Snippet

I've just been notified by the tournament organizer. There is a change in venue for this weekend's match. Out match, which was to be played in Victoria Institution, will now be played in RRI instead.

Don't know where RRI is? Well, it's in Sungei Buloh. Give me a call at +6012 3165551 if you don't know how to get there.

The Liga-A National Tournament kicks off this weekend. 4 Ansara teams will be representing their respective states. They are Muar, Kuantan, Balik Pulau, and K.Terengganu.

Muar will be going up against Kedah's representative - Sultan Abdul Hamid Old Collegians Association (SAHOCA). The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 3rd, 2005. The venue of the match is in Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur at 5:00PM.

If you're interested in playing, send me your details. That is, your name, ic. number, and contact number. You can send the details to me at kodeexii(at)yahoo(dot)com, or sms me at +60123165551.

If you're not interested in playing, you are also invited to drop by and watch the game this Saturday. We'd love to have you there.

Liga-A SoccerWe've lost another game. That's four in a row now. This time around by small margin. SMSAH 2 - Muar 1. It was a fairly balanced match. Both teams had their fair share of chances in front of the goal. Similar to our first encounter with SMSAH, both teams had few clear cut chances at goal. Most of the battle was fought in the midfield area.

SMSAH started the game with a 2 man advantage, as we had to start with only 9 players. They took the 2 man advantage to full use. They piled up their players up front and managed to score in the first 5 minutes of play. A one on one situation, and their striker made no mistake as he slotted the ball past the Muar goalkeeper with ease. Playing with only 9 men, we were put under pressure and were mostly in defense for the first fifteen minutes.

There is a change of venue for the game between SMSAH and Muar this Sunday. The match will now be played in UNITEN instead. It's one of the fields at the UNITEN entrance. See you in UNITEN this Sunday!!!!

Coming up this weekend, a league match with SMSAH. Yup, we lost to them in the FA Cup first round. How will we fare against them this weekend? This game, though scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed to Sunday - same time same place.

Match details:

Match: SMSAH vs Muar
Date: Sunday, July 17th 2005
Kickoff: 1700Hrs (5:00PM)
Venue: MARDI B, Serdang
Rendezvous: UM, PJ Gate - 1530Hrs (3:30PM)

Three losses in a row. Two trashings in a row. We've allowed 11 goals in three matches. Can we survive this season? Three more matches to play in the league. Mathematically, we're still in the running for the two promotional spots.

I was not at the game. Thus, I can't realy say how the team performed. However, from what I heard, only 11 players turned up on game day. Just enough to play. No reserves. Well, what can I say? Basically, nothing.

At the end of the game, MCOBA 5 - Muar 1. We did manage to score a goal. The scorer - Fadhli.

Up next, a match against SMSAH. The match is scheduled on July 16th. It will be played in MARDI B, Serdang. As usual, kick-off is at 5:00PM, and rendezvous point for players and fans (any one?) is at the PJ Gate in UM - 3:30PM.

Can we break this losing streak?

It was bound to happen. After the initial 2 game winning streak (from walkovers). We've now suffered 2 straight defeats. First, about three weeks back in the FA Cup first round match. Last weekend, against ASAS, in the league's third match.

I don't know how to describe it. It's just bad. We were down 0 - 2 at half time. By the time the referee blew the final whistle, were found ourselves 0 - 5 down. Let's just put this match behind us and focus on the next game against MCOBA, this coming weekend in Proton, Shah Alam.

So, they've got 4 points so far and sitting on the fourth position in the league. They are also the only other team in Div. 2 with a zero in the Lose column. Hmmmm.. this game should be interesting. Match between the only two teams that have yet to lose any match in Div. 2. However, note that we have yet to play a full league match.

Looking at their scorer list, their top scorer, currently with three goals, is Mohd Zakrishah. I will have to assign someone to mark him closely then. I wonder who is up for this job? I wonder how many defensive players will be available this weekend. I will also need to check up on Mail's condition. How is his knee? Let's see now, how many players do we have in the crock list? Hmmmm, only Ceruud and Mail comes to mind. Anyone else?

Our past league encounter with ASAS have never been good. We've never been able to win against them. All our past league matches with them have ended in a draw. Will this year's match end with another draw?

So, here are the match details once again:

Match: Ansara Muar vs ASAS
Date: June 18th, 2005
Venue: Uniten, Bangi
Kick-off: 5:00PM
Rendezvous: UM, PJ Gate - 3:30PM - 4:00PM

If you're interested in checking out the team, head on over to Uniten, Bangi this Saturday at 5:00PM. If you're among those who're interested to join the team, come on over to Uniten. See you all in Uniten, come Saturday.

The third match of Liga-A 2005 season. Though, in reality, it's our first match since the first two were walkover wins. It's the first round of Ansara Cup (FA Cup). Our opponent - SMSAH. It's also a match between the current top two teams in Div 2. So, how did we fare against them? Read on.

My initial fear of not having enough players for the match turned out to be a false alarm. About fourteen of us (yes, including me - I'm a registered player too) turned up for the match. Good enough for me. However, since none of our goal keepers were available, I had to wear the gloves for this game. Oh well..

Just before the game, I received an interesting news. We're getting a new set of jerseys. So, I hereby would like to extend my thank you to the kind hearted sponsor for the jerseys. Thus, we got into the game suited in the new set of jerseys - Red top, black shorts, and white sox. With the word "Ansara" on the front.

Ok, enough of the small talk. Let's get to the game itself.

We went into the match with a 4-5-1 formation. The game plan was to not allow SMSAH any room in midfield to launch an attack. We managed to execute the game plan for most part of the match. SMSAH managed only to create a small number of chances on goal. The defence also did a great job in executing the offside trap. They did, however, made a few long distance attempt on goal. These long shots bothered me a bit. It's been a while since I put on the gloves. Thus, through out the match, my attempts to safely catch these long shots would spill out from my hands. However, since I've anticipated such spill outs, I managed to recover them almost immediately.

The most dangerous situation arising from the spill outs was when the ball spilled out right in front of their striker. Lucky for me, I managed to kick the ball away just as it fell to the legs of the striker. Phew!!. SMSAH managed to put the ball into the net at one point. However, it didn't count, as their striker was ruled offside by the linesman.

In short, the first half and the second half ended in a draw. Both teams didn't see much action in front of either goal. The few chances both teams had either ended up in near misses or were way off targets.

Since it's a knock out tournament, we had to play in a silver goal extra time of five minutes per half. 3 minutes into the first half of extra time, SMSAH were awarded a corner. From the corner, which we were unable to safely clear the ball from the penalty box. A SMSAH player managed to drive the ball past all the moving bodies and feet in the box into the net. I saw the ball late, dived and were not able to reach it in time. Thus, with only two minutes remaining, it was Muar 0 - SMSAH 1.

After the goal, I realized, I failed to direct anyone to stand at the post during the corner. A basic mistake which costs us the match and sent us out of the Ansara Cup.

The game also saw Muar losing another player to a knee injury. Our right winger, suffered a knee injury in the second half. He will be out for some time now. All I can do, pray that it's not really bad and for his speedy recovery. That's two players from my first eleven, down with injuries. Oh well.. Right now, I'm really waiting for the transfer window. Need to register a few new players into the team. Remind me to ask the organizer about the transfer window.

Next up, League Match 3. We're up against ASAS in match 3. According to the schedule, the match will be played on June 11th. However, ASAS have requested that the match be postponed to a later date. Thus, tentatively, it will be played on June 18th. This gives us a couple of weeks with no scheduled match.

Hmmmmmm.. a friendly perhaps? Gives me a chance to try out those who have submitted their interest in joining the team. Hmmmmm... interesting.. interesting.. So, to those who're interested to join and have not sent me your details, please do so now. To those who've sent me your details, I'll get in touch with you soon.

If you're interested in the results of other matches in Liga-A, check it out here.

The first round of Ansara Cup (FA Cup) 2005 is coming up. In the first round of this knoeck out tournament, Ansara Muar will be playing host to SMSAH in RRI E. The details:

Event: Ansara Cup 2005, First Round
Match: Ansara Muar vs. SMSAH
Date: May 29th, 2005
Venue: RRI E, Sungei Buloh
Kick-off: 1700Hrs (5:00PM)
Rendezvous: UM PJ Gate, 1530Hrs (3:30PM)

SMSAH is the only other team in Div.2 with a hundred percent winning record. They would probably have an advantage over us, as they've actually played more games than us - due to the walkover wins we've got to date. After last weekend's 3 - 1 win against Ansara Kuantan, they should be pretty hyped up to win this Ansara Cup match.

SMSAH is a totally unknown team to Muar, as we've never actually played against them in any of the Liga-A tournament before. I personally, have also not seen them in action prior to this coming encounter.

How will we fare against them this coming weekend? I haven't got a clue. Another walkover win for Muar? I doubt it. What's the game plan? That will depend on the number of regulars I've got on match day. I've been informed that a number of the regulars will not be available on match day. Many are out of town. Thus, I wonder if I'll even have a team on match day?

Another weekend of Liga-A matches. A total of 7 matches were played today (according to schedule). 3 matches in Div. 1 and 4 matches in Div 2. In Div. 2, Ansara Muar were to visit Ansara Beseri in MARDI B, Serdang. Kick-off, scheduled at 5:15PM.

As planned, we took off from UM at 4:15PM. After some phone calls to the organizer to confirm the venue location, we arrived at the field at 4:55PM. The referee was already there waiting. We suited up and waited for the home team to arrive. Called up the organizer to determine if the home team will show up.

5:30PM, still no sign of the home team. Thus, the referee called the team into the field and blew his whistle to officially award us three points. That's two games in a row now. Am I happy with the results? Well, the three points will surely do us good in the league. However, I'm not sure if this is good for the team and also for the league itself. I wonder if this will reflect badly for other Ansara teams? Will this give the impression to other teams that Ansara teams are just not serious about their participation in this league?

So, we have now secured ourselves 6 points without playing a single game. 6 points and 6 goals. That should put us at least in the second spot in Div 2, pending the result from Ansara Jasin vs. MCOBA.

As I've mentioned in my first post match review, the season's just begun. There are still 5 matches to be played in the league. A long way to go. I just hope we can maintain this position we're in when the season ends. For now, we'll just have to take it one game at a time. Next up, the FA Cup match against SMSAH. This match is scheduled on:

Ansara Muar vs. SMSAH
Date: Sunday, May 29th
Kick-off: 5:00PM
Venue: RRI E, Sungai Buloh.

To the Ansara Muar players, please inform either me, Fadhli, or Wan about your availability for this match. I wonder why the FA Cup schedule is not listed in the Liga-A website?

p/s: Another bright point of the day, MU just lost the FA Cup to Arsenal. Go Spurs. Hehe.

Liga-A 2005 continues. Match day 2 of the league is coming up this weekend. The matches to be played are:

  • Ansara Beseri vs Ansara Muar
  • SMACH vs. ASAS
  • Ansara Kuantan vs. SMSAH
  • Ansara Jasin vs. MCOBA

Ansara Muar will be playing as visitors to Ansara Beseri. This match will be played in MARDI B (hmmm.. can't recall the actual location of this field). Kick-off for all matches this season is at 5:00PM. So players, please.. arrive at the field by 4:45PM. The referee is pretty strict about kick-off time this year. The match detail:

Match: Ansara Beseri vs Ansara Muar
Date: Saturday May 21, 2005
Venue: MARDI B
Kick-off: 1700 Hrs (5:00PM)
Rendezvous: UM PJ Gate - 1530Hrs (3:30PM)

Ansara Beseri (Anseri) will be playing to regain their pride after the big blowout they suffered against MCOBA last weekend. MCOBA thrashed them 6 - 0. We have a 50 percent record when playing against Anseri. We've played them twice, since Liga-A started. We've lost once and won once. They trashed us 5 - 0 in last year's FA Cup. We trashed them 4 - 0 earlier this year in Piala Jaya. Looking at the scoreline, I'd say Anseri still owe us one goal.. heheh.. So, are we ready for the match? I sure hope so.

So, will I see any supporters turning up during the match? I sure hope so. To those who are interested to join Ansara Muar Football, why don't you drop by the match this weekend. Come on over and drop me your contact number.

I can't register you into the team now, as the registration period is over. However, there will be a transfer window period, some time in the middle of the season. That is when I can register new players into the team. Another possible registration window is after the league and before the start of the Alumni Cup tournament - the Post Season Championship.

There is also the Liga-A Inter State Championship. Ansara Muar is representing Johor. This is a separate tournament. The tournament schedule is not officially out yet. So, if you are interested to play for Ansara Muar, just get in touch with me - kodeexii[at]yahoo[dot]com.

There's an Ansara Annual General Meeting scheduled tomorrow - May 15th 2005 at 3:00PM. The event will be held in PWTC, KL. Time to elect new chapter president for Ansara Muar. Isqax is the current president. The rest of the committee are.. I don't know.. hmmmmm.. Is he running for the post this time around? I don't know.. we'll see tomorrow.

So, to all Ansara members, head on over to the PWTC tomorrow. This is the time for you to voice out your concerns and what nots about Ansara.

I'll be there around 2:00 PM. I've got another meeting to attend before the AGM. Just got a call from the Liga-A committee. A disciplinary board meeting will be held tomorrow in PWTC to discuss about the free for all in last week's match between SJAA and HSKOBA.

Liga-A 2005 have officially kicked off. Our first match was against Ansara Jasin. RRI B was the venue. We were the home team. This year, RRI will be our home ground - games where we are the home team (mentioned first, i.e: Muar vs Jasin) will be played in RRI.

It's been a while since I went to RRI. It's changed a bit - they've converted the cricket field to a football field. I think a football field gives them more returns, heheh.

Back to the match. There was a heavy downpour right before the match. I was still at the rendezvous point, in UM, at 4.15PM waiting for the players to arrive. Can't really blame them for being late, they are on motorbikes. So, I waited. Luckily, around 4.20PM, the heavy downpour slowed down to a drizzle and the players started arriving one by one. Joe deserves a special mention here. He braved the heavy rain on his motorbike to arrive in UM from Sentul - drenched to the bone. Hats off to you Joe.

KL traffic post a downpour, I don't need/want to talk about it. However, we still managed to arrive in RRI at 5.00PM. Which field is RRI B? Had to make some phone calls to determine the exact field. There were still no signs of the opponent, and I thought we were late, phewww. We got to the field and the players quickly got into their gears. The opponent was still nowhere to be seen. Oh well, at least we got time to do some warm-up session until they arrive or the referee calls.

I was in the midst of selecting my first 11 when the referee came and asked the team to enter the field. Still no sign of the Jasin players. Then, Najib (Jasin manager) arrived and told me that they'll have to give the game to us (walkover) as his players failed to turn up. The referee then blew his whistle and we got our first three points for the season. I was glad and disappointed. Glad because we now have three points with the walkover. Disappointed because I don't really like winning a match this way.

So, since the players were all there, instead of just going home after the walkover, we decided to play a friendly with the available Jasin players. Thus, instead of playing an official Liga-A match, we ended up playing a friendly match - Muar vs Jasin + Muar.

Liga-A League Match I: Ansara Muar 3 - Ansara Jasin 0 (walkover)

To Najib and Ansara Jasin, thanks and sorry it had to end up this way. However, it's still early in the season, more games to come. As they say, the ball is round.

Our next league match will be on May 21st. We're playing against Ansara Beseri in MARDI B. That's two weeks from today. Note to self and the players - it's the third Saturday of the month. If it rains like today, traffic conditions will be somewhat similar to today. Hoping to see a few more Muar supporters at the game. You game?

The first match of Liga Alumni 2005. Kick off at 5:15PM. Muar is playing against Ansara Jasin. I'll be sending in the player registration in two days. If you'd like to join, email me at kodeexii[at]yahoo[dot]com

Match: Ansara Muar vs Ansara Jasin
Date: Saturday May 7, 2005
Time: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Location: RRI A

The league schedule can be found at the Liga-A website. Expect to see y'all there!!!

Looking for exMRSM Muarians who wants to play football. I've got an invitation to play on March 23rd, and March 30th. The only requirement - our team must be made up of ex MRSM Muar only. Thus, the current team will need a few additional xMuarians.

So, if you are interested to join the team, get in touch with me by email - kodeexii[at]yahoo[dot]com, by phone or sms - +60123165551.

The game was actually played a few weeks back. Just didn't get the chance to update it in here. So, as most of you would have already known by now. We didn't make it to the Final of Piala Jaya Ansara 2005. Yeah, we lost to Ansara KT, while Anseri managed a draw with Ansara Kuantan.

All we needed to get into the Final was a draw. However, it was KT who played with more vigor at first, and scored their first goal in the early minutes of the game. Cherrud was not available for this game, due to the knee injury suffered against Kuantan. However, we welcomed the reappearance of Bulat, now free from his duties in the Celcom's Inter Varsity Football Tournament. He quickly became a problem for the KT defence with his quick burst of speed and slick ball control.

The players tried as they could till the end, but no matter what they did, they just couldn't get the ball into the KT net. KT added another goal late in the second half and finished off our hopes of getting any points in this game. In the end, Muar 0 - KT 2.

Oh well, we'll have to do better in the league then. Speaking of which, I'm still looking for players. From what I've noticed, some of the readers here are AnsaraMuarians who are in the batches that I've no contact with. Thus if you have contacts of AnsaraMuarians who would like to be a member of the Ansara Muar team in Liga-A, drop me a line at kodeexii[at]yahoo[dot]com.

After the big bang of an introduction in the Piala Jaya Ansara 2005, Ansara Muar went down againts Ansara Kuantan. To make things worse, Ceruud, the forward we highly rely on to get our goals limped out of the game with a knee injury.

It was a game of high intensity. Kuantan, playing their very first game in the tournament, a team known to have brought in highly rated players from around Liga-A. They started the game in attacking mode. The first 10 minues, it was Kuantan who made all the attacking moves. Muar, on the other hand, sat back and tried to absorb all the pressure from Kuantan.

Kuantan's determination to get an early goal proved successful. They were presented with a penalty kick when Muar's last man, brought down Kuantan's striker in the box. After merely 5 minutes into the game, from the penalty spot, Kuantan lead the game. Muar 0 - Kuantan 1.

Taking advantage of their attacking momentum, Kuantan pressed further into Muar's area. However, Muar's defence were able to absorb all of Kuantan's attempts at goal. Muar also made some advances into Kuantan's end of the field. As Kuantan pushed more people into Muar's half of the field, Muar depended on long passes from defense and quick counter attacks to put pressure on the Kuantan defence. Cerrud, Fadhli, Hasrul, and Joe all had chances at levelling the score but somehow missed their target.

Half way thorugh the first half, Kuantan was penalized. They had a player sent off for a red card offense (I don't really know why, though). Thus Kuantan had to play with only 10 men. This, allowed Muar to push into the Kuantan half more often. The score stayed at Muar 0 - Kuantan 1 at half time.

The second half started very much alike to the earlier half. Muar however, gained possession time and made more advances into Kuantan's penalty box. 15 minutes into the half, Muar managed to level the score. Off a throw in from the left, Joe latched onto the ball and unleashed a swerving volley directly towards the goal. The Kuantan goal keeper was left rooted, and was only capable of watching the ball hitting the net. Joe's second for the season. Muar 1 - Kuantan 1.

The game seemed to be destined for a tie. Both teams were not able to find the net with quite a number of missed chances. However, late in the game, perhaps, into the time added on, Muar defensive unit made a huge blunder. They lost the ball a few yards off the penalty box. The blunder presented Kuantan's striker with a one on one situation with Muar's goal keeper. A chance not to be missed by any. Thus, Muar 1 - Kuantan 2.

Up next, will be a match against Ansara KT. The match will be played on February 26th in UKM. This game against KT will be the deciding match. We'll have to win to ensure our passage into the final. So, let's see some support from our fans (do we have any?).

Liga-A Soccer

Ansara Muar is starting off this season with a bang. The team displayed their hunger for glory by trashing their first opponent this year with four goals. They also managed to keep a clean sheet.

Saturday, January 15th, 5:30PM in Ikram, Bangi - the first match of this season for Ansara Muar. Their opponent - Ansara Beseri. If last season's match up were to be used to predict the outcome of this game, Beseri would have been the favorite to win. Last season, Beseri ran all over the Muar defense like nobody's business. This was not the case this time around.

Muar started the game, threatening Beseri right from the kick-off. Barely 60 seconds into the game, Muar scored the first goal of the season. The scorer, making it more interesting, is Johan Mustafakamal. After years of playing the wide left attacking position, and after numerous missed chances, he finally get to put his name on the score sheet. Muar 1 - Beseri 0.

As if still dazed by the early goal, just five minutes after the first goal, another Muar midfielder caught the entire Beseri defense and goalie napping. Hazrul Abu Sin, sent a thunderous dipping shot from 40 yards out crashing into the net as the Beseri defense and goalkeeper stood watching helplessly. Muar 2 - Beseri 0.

Beseri started to work their way into the game after the scorcher by Hazrul. They got into their rhythm and ventured deeper into Muar's half of the field. The game became more balanced, in terms of possession time. Both teams created goal scoring chances which, unfortunately were missed. Muar forwards missed at least three clear cut chances to score. Fadli, Joe and Ceruud, were presented with sure shots at goal. However, they all miss fired.

Beseri had a golden opportunity to get back into the game just before half time. They were presented with a free kick inside the Muar penalty box when the Muar keeper, Ridzuan Jumin, caught a back pass from a defender inside the box. To the relief of the Muar players, the free kick ended up in row z of the stands (if there were any). So at half time, the result stayed at Muar 2 - Beseri 0.

The second half started with Beseri trying get an early goal to get back into the game. Muar, on the other hand was more patient in their build up to attack. Their patience was paid off when they were awarded a penalty kick. Muar's striker, Fadli was brought down in the box as he was shielding the ball. The ensuing kick was taken by Fadli himself. Muar 3 - Beseri 0.

Later, in a run of play, Elyas, who was brought in as a substitute ten minutes before the end of second half, broke free from center field. Utilizing his speed and fresh legs, he left the entire Beseri defense chasing his heels as he sped towards the goal, side stepped the goalkeeper and slotted home the fourth goal of the match. The goal, made it even harder for Beseri to make a comeback. Muar 4 - Beseri 0.

Yeah, I know. I can still recall that horrifying day when we were beaten by KT after leading 5 - 1.

Muar 4 - Beseri 0. That's the final score for the match. The team played well. They gelled together as a team. However, there are still glaring displays of mental and physical weaknesses. Mental, in the sense that they can't really play well if the opponents put them under pressure. Possessions are easily lost when opponents apply enough pressure to the player with the ball - resulting in all the wild passes going just about anywhere. Physically, the players will have to beef up on their stamina building workouts. Too many players can be seen gasping for air as the match goes on.

While it may be a bit difficult to work on strengthening their mental abilities, I would think that heightening their stamina is achievable. If they've got it in them to play for 90 minutes without gasping, they can make this season a memorable one.

In reference to my recent Piala Jaya Ansara posting, if anyone is interested to join the team in the tournament, please feel free to contact me via email. We are also looking for those who can provide transport for the players. From UM to Bangi and back, as the team is currently made up of UM students. And of course... come on down and lets support the team on game day....
